Research vacancies and provide supporting evidence for making an application for a graduate position. In this assignment the students have to make research vacancies in computing industry. Research vacancies should more than five different types of careers in computing. Students also required to develop a CVs as an evidence for applying the jobs/vacancies.

Types of careers in computing:

1.  PHP Programmer

Responsibilities:

• Develop web applications such as client-side web-based PHP applications, server-side web-based PHP applications, troubleshoot and managing project development,technical support for problem resolution.
• Develop structured, validated, and documented programming code for ease of maintenance.
• Build site pages, unit tests, and support the implementation of web development. Maintain and update new and existing customer websites.
• Perform related work as required, and be able to follow instructions and visualize solutions.
• Be proactive and able to work with minimum supervision to meet tight deadlines.

Requirements:

• Candidate must possess at least a Diploma, Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma, Bachelor's Degree, Post Graduate Diploma, Professional Degree or Master's Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent.
• Required skill(s): PHP, CSS, JQuery.
• Preferred skill(s): MySQL, XML, AJAX.
• Required language(s): Chinese, English.
• At least 2 year(s) of working experience in the related field is required for this position.
• Preferably Senior Executives specializing in IT/Computer - Software or equivalent. Job role in Software Engineer/Programmer or equivalent.
• 5 Full-Time positions available.
• Working Hours: 10.30am - 6.30pm Monday - Friday
• Non working days on Saturday, Sunday & Public Holidays.

2.  Application Software Support (JB)  


Requirements:

• Diploma holder or A-level
• Ability to communicate at all levels
• PC experience required
• Accounting knowledge essential
• Nature of job includes user training, coordination with clients and implementation of application software and software documentation.

3.  IT Specialist - Helpdesk

Responsibilities:

• Provide technical assistance on IT related issues to the end users.
• Manage escalation processes and monitor the progress of case resolutions.
• Liaise with the local, regional and global IT support teams on operational issues.

Requirements:

• Degree/Diploma in Computer Science or Information Technology.
• Minimum 2 years of related work experience in IT.
• Able to work on rotating shifts
• Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia. 
• Knowledge and experience on current desktop applications support. 

4.  Senior/Junior Developers (JAVA/PHP/MICROSOFT ASP.Net)

Responsibilities:

• To be involved in the development, maintenance and support of multiple software developments projects, with wide exposure to various technologies and platforms. 
• Work closely with the project team in the areas of design, requirement, specification, implementation, coding and testing. 
• To ensure all source codes are optimized, written and documented in compliance to company’s standards. 
• To ensure timely project delivery. 

Requirements:

We seek members who have at least Diploma or Higher qualification in the fields of Computer Science / Information Technology or equivalent with a minimum of 2 years working experience for the following positions:

     i.  JAVA Developers (5 positions)

• Good command in utilizing and understanding Web technologies (JSP, Servlet, HTML) and MVC framework (Struts and Seam in particular). 
• Understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC). 
• Skill in Object oriented analysis and design (UML).  
• Possess sound knowledge of any J2EE Web Application Server (Apache Tomcat in particular) and Java (J2SE/JDK, J2EE, J2ME, JDBC, JFC/Swing/AWT).  
• Knowledge and experience in maintenance of Oracle database maintenance (installation, administration and setup), Java Design Patterns and Networking (SOAP / TCP / IP / Socket Programming) is an added advantage.  
• Working knowledge and experience of development on top of Oracle WebLogic Portal/Application Server, SOA Suite BPM, BPEL, BAM) and Oracle UCM will also be an added advantage.

     ii.  PHP Developers (2 positions)

• Sound knowledge on web development with prior experience in completing software/web projects.  
• Strong programming and database skills with focus on PHP, MySQL, Postgresql, and JavaScript. 
• Knowledge on LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL & PHP). 
• Knowledge in Drupal theming and module development will be an added advantage.
• Computer Network knowledge is an added advantage. 
• Web designing skills with experience in HTML, CSS, Photoshop, and Flash will also be an added advantage.

     iii.  Microsoft ASP.Net Developers (5 positions)

• ASP.Net 2.0 experience preferred. 
• Visual Basic preferred (though C# users are welcomed to apply as well). 
• Understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). 
• Understanding of AJAX techniques is an advantage. 
• MS SQL Server 2000/2005 experience is an advantage. 
• Understanding of XAML is an added advantage.

5.  Internship for Computer/IT Students

Requirements:

• Candidate must possess or currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent.
• Required language(s): Bahasa Malaysia, English.
• 1 Internship position(s) for duration of 5 month(s).

6.  Software Developer/Web Developer

Responsibilities:

• Analyze, design and develop web based and stand-alone applications.
• Able to work independently in seeking requirements and feedback, constantly updating end users with development progress and tracking, follow up on any pending issues.
• Support and improve current software applications.
• Update user manuals and prepare documentations.

Requirements:

• A passion for web development and coding.
• Candidate must possess at least a Professional Certificate, Diploma, Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma, Bachelor's Degree, Post Graduate Diploma, Professional Degree, Engineering (Computer/Telecommunication) or equivalent.
• Required skill(s): C#, MySQL, HTML, CSS
• Required language(s): English
• At least 1 year(s) of working experience in the related field is required for this position.
• Preferably Junior Executives specializing in IT/Computer - Software or equivalent.
• Full-Time positions available.

7.  System Administrator

Responsibilities: 

• Support CACS parameters maintenance to meet business objective.
• Provide assistance in CACS system for any investigation on CACS system related.
• Support and maintain AutoDialer system.
• Generate production performance report for business review.Ongoing AutoDialer fine-tuning to improve business performance, perform system parameter review was performed annually and recommendation for enhancements to be provided.
• To support Nice systems as well as Call Quality Monitoring (CQM) processes when required
• Support the daily SMS blasting & ensure report is generated on timeSupport the daily SMS blasting & ensure report is generated on time
• To ensure PC/phone extension/headsets inventory is proper tracked & monitored.
• To assist in business processes automation using various tools available (e.g. Excel Macro)

Requirements:

• Candidate must possess at least SPM with 1 year working experience, or Diploma, Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma, Bachelor's Degree, Post Graduate Diploma or Professional Degree in any field. Fresh graduates/Entry level applicants are encouraged to apply.
• IT background. Familiar with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Power Point, Excel
• Good command of English and the ability to converse in local dialects are an added advantage.

8.  Java Applications Developer

Responsibilities:

• The job responsibilities of the successful candidates include application software development, testing and documentation.

Requirements:

• Diploma or Degree in IT or equivalent qualifications.
• Knowledge of Java programming language.
• Knowledge of SQL language.
• Able to work with minimum supervision.
• The nature of our industry requires the candidate to be able to read & write in Mandarin.

A302CS - CURRENT TRENDS AND CAREERS IN COMPUTING

This advantage module aims to give students an understanding of the ways in which computer science is moving from an industrial and commercial prospective as well as from a research prospective. It is meant to prepare students for their entry to the career market. It will give the students opportunity to hone their CVs and to continue to update their personal development portfolios in line with the current job market. The module will include invited talks from people working in the computing industry and guest lectures from academic researches.

The objectives of this course are:

1. Discuss the computing industry and current methods used in a variety of contexts.
2. Discuss some state of the art research work in Computer Science.
3. Evaluate career patterns and opportunities in computing.
4. Reflect on their employability competencies and career management skills and plan for their future development.
